Reindeer Games with Karolyn Loncon

Hello!!

Karolyn Loncon here, and I’m so excited and honored to be sharing a couple of projects featuring a couple of the newly released Mama Elephant stamp sets and dies!! Let’s get to it, shall we?

I am over-the-moon in love with those adorable little reindeer from the new Reindeer Games Stamp Set! I mean come ON!! Could they be any cuter?!! I started out by die cutting an image panel from Kraft Card Stock using the largest rectangle die in the Pizazz Pieces Creative Cuts Die Set. I so love the sweet detail that those pierced dots add to the edge of that panel. I then stamped each of those funny little reindeer all over the panel using Unicorn Pigment Ink and then heat embossing them with White Embossing Powder. I filled in the open areas around the reindeer using the snowflake images from the Season’s Greetings Stamp Set and the snow sparkles from the Jolly & Merry Stamp Set – again stamping them with Unicorn Pigment Ink and heat embossing with White Embossing Powder. To add small bits of color, I colored in the hooves, antlers and noses with colored pencils. The sentiment, from the Jingle Greetings Stamp Set, was stamped (after performing a bit of stamp surgery) onto a red banner that was die cut using the Basic Set Creative Cuts banner die. Lastly, I stamped and die cut one of those cutie patootie reindeer, added bits of color (including a sequin red nose – he’s supposed to be Rudolph) and adhered him over the top of the corresponding reindeer using a foam square - just to give him a little dimension and movement. Here’s a close up of the details of the card.

My next project also features one of the reindeer from the Reindeer Games Stamp Set. But he’s sharing the stage with a stacked Merry Script Creative Cut and a coordinating sentiment from the Jolly & Merry Stamp Set.

I love how that little Rudolph sits perfectly atop that stacked and ink blended die cut sentiment. I started out by trimming a horizontal A2 top folding card base from Berry Sorbet Card Stock. I die cut the scalloped panel from vellum, and the stitched rectangle from Solar White Card Stock, both using the Basic Set Creative Cuts. I lightly blended some Spun Sugar Distress Ink onto the stitched panel. On a scrap of Solar White Card Stock, I blended Worn Lipstick and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink together and then die cut the Merry Script Creative Cut from it. I die cut it three more times from white card stock and adhered all the layers together with Multi Matte Medium, making sure to place the ink blended die cut on the top. I adhered the finished die cut to the image panel with more Multi Matte Medium. I stamped the word “Christmas” from the Jolly & Merry Stamp Set onto the image panel just under the Merry Script die cut. I stamped, die cut and colored with Copic Markers the reindeer, birdie and Christmas light – all from the Reindeer Games Stamp Set (I also used the coordinating Reindeer Games Creative Cuts) – and adhered all of them to the image panel with foam squares. Finally, I applied a layer of Clear Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to the Merry Script die cut, Rudolph’s nose, and the light bulb. Here’s a close-up of the detail.

That’s it!! Two cutie patootie projects featuring some of my favorite holiday images from Mama Elephant!!!

I want to thank Angela and Kryssi for inviting me to share with you all today!! I’m such a huge fan of Mama Elephant, and its two adorable owners have a special place in my heart, as well. They’re good people, and I adore them both!

That’ll do it for me today, friends!!! I had so much fun

  5. I love these cards! I have this set but I'm not sure if I have any white ink to be able to do this. I have to check my stash. If not, I may have to buy some! I like what you did with the nose making it red. I have glitter red stickles that would be great on the nose and I have some red beads that I could put there too. So many different things to do with the reindeer, so little time! LOL
