Hello friends! Nichol here today with a couple of Dear Santa Penguin cards to share with you. One of my favorite ways to use the Favor Bag Add Ons is to create die cut scene cards. The cute critters make a bold statement and are a fun addition to any card! I especially love how you can mix and match accessories from the sets to customize the critters. Today I used paired the Santa/Elf FBA stocking hat with the Penguin FBA. I also took the Snail Mail letter and envelopes and paired them with the penguins with matching sentiments from the Mini Merry Messages Stamp Set. Custom stamped backgrounds using the previously released Boutique Borders is a fantastic way to mix and match older and newer product! Let's get started!
The frame was created by die cut red and pink cardstock with the Snail Mail Creative Cuts Die. The center panel edges were masked off with post it tape and stamped with Boutique Border line images using white pigment ink (on the red background) and red ink (on the pink background). The post it tape was removed to reveal a perfectly unstamped border! I love this technique for giving the illusion of two layers!
The outer frame and inside panel were adhered to a white top fold card base as shown.
Elements from the FBA Penguin Creative Cuts, Snail Mail Creative Cuts, Delancey Creative Cuts, and FBA Santa/Elf Creative Cuts were die cut and assembled to create framed up scenes.
Sentiments from the Mini Merry Messages Stamp Set were stamped on the Delancey thought bubble with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Crystal Lacquer was applied to the eyes, beaks, and hearts. Once dry, a white gel pen was used to create highlights on top of the lacquered eyes and beaks.
An additional sentiment from the Mini Merry Messages Stamp Set was stamped inside the card to finish the design.
