Alpine Carolers with Kathy Racoosin!

IMG_1121

Hello Friends, How are you today? I am so excited to be a guest on the Mama Elephant Blog today. To mark the occasion I wanted to created something a little bit out of the box.... possibly a "box" of sorts. I am in love with this holiday set called, "Alpine Carolers" matter of fact I love it so much I did a video working with this set previously. (You can see the video here and the full post here.

TODAY I wanted to show you that you can use this set all winter...not just during the holidays.

The people are just perfect for any wintery Birthday or special gift all season long and can stand along on a tag for that special someone. The sentiment in the set "from our family to yours" works on about anything.

To create this quick gift bag or box I cut a regular piece of car stock in half horizontally and die cut or punch a hole towards the center.

Stamp the background with some complimentary ink.

Stamp the person that the gift is for in white ink on a strip of vellum and heat set. Add your white accents & tape a piece of acetate behind the window. Sew the back and front together along with the vellum. Fill with gold coins or candy. (gold coins are from Costco)

A big thanks to Mama Elephant for letting me be a guest with them today.
Have a great weekend.

Hugs, Kathy

STAMP HIGHLIGHT: BLOCK PARTY LETTERS

Hi Everyone! We are wrapping up Stamp Highlights with Block Party Letters today! We love this alpha set which gives you that extra dimension to add color, texture or keep it as line art!

Let's see how these letters POP out of their projects!

Chill out! Elena created a fun little scene, pairing the block party letters with a whole party of penguins! We think it's so cute, especially with the addition of the glossy balloon!

Pamela created a simple farewell card by making her own sentiment with the block letters. We love the way she coloured the shadows of those letters!

Nichol created a fun text-style tag using the Block Party letters for a repeating sentiment and pairing it with a phrase and images from Alpine Carolers.

Laura used the Alpine Carolers set along with the Block Party Letters to create a fun holiday teacher card.

STAMP HIGHLIGHT: SEASON'S GREETINGS

Today we are highlighting Season's Greetings! Another set beautiful set collaborated with Pauline Ibarra! Gorgeous calligraphy, what more can I say?

Ashley curved her sentiment to match the lines of the border die cut! What a perfect modern card!

This is the perfect Christmas card to be sent out from a new couple! The background for the sentiment is perfectly distressed for a snowy effect!

Elegant snowflakes stamped in white and gold pigment inks on kraft cardstock give a classy feel to this seasonal greeting card. Nichol embossed the bold greeting in gold embossing powder to make it pop.

Laura combined the Cozy Christmas stamp set with Season's Greeting to create a cute Holiday scene.

Geralyn created a beautiful one-layered card using Season's Greetings. She stamped the snowflakes using a variety of Mama Elephant's lovely pigment inks - Ocean, Rainwater, Winter, Pacific Blue, and Stargazer. The different shades of blue give the card a cool, wintry vibe that's perfect for this season.

Elena created an amazing shaker card by cutting into our Femme Frames rectangle with the new instagram die. We love how she used sequins and glitter for snow, which works perfectly with the Season's Greetingshttp://mamaelephant.com/products/seasons-greetings sentiment!

STAMP HIGHLIGHT: ALPINE CAROLERS

Welcome back everyone! Today we are highlighting the collaboration stamp set with Elena Roussakis, Alpine Carolers! This sweet family arrived just in time for caroling season! Time to tap your feet and feel the music in this set!

Let's see what the Design Team did with these sweet images!

Elena shows off what this stamp set is all about! The carolers all hold hands, and the fantastic quote from "Elf" is given center stage. We love the choice of colors and patterns on her card!

We love how Ashley made these two carolers the center of attention by using bold traditional colors and mounting them on a tag!

Geralyn created a chorus of carolers with Alpine Carolers and connected them out using the partial diecutting technique. She colored them in using watercolor pencil crayons and chose a sentiment from Season's Greetings. We love how she added sequins for a touch of sparkle.

Laura used one of the Borderlines Trio dies to create a curtain so her carolers would look like they were performing on a stage.

Nichol created a colorful background with Distress Inks to really highlight the darling images from Alpine Carolers.

Pamela made a card using the partial die-cutting technique. We love how she used them for a birthday card instead!

STAMP HIGHLIGHT: BOUTIQUE BORDERS

Today we are highlighting Boutique Borders. It's another essential border set to make those fantastic backgrounds, borders and patterns. It is also a great addition to our Basic Borders set.

Elena created the cutest tag trio! She used the stripes from Boutique Borders and paired them with the adorable Alpine Carolers. We love how, with some selective inking, she totally customized the height of the mom and dad images!

Ashley created a cozy plaid background which matches perfectly with her Block Party Letters sentiment!

Nichol created her own "patterned paper" by stamping a plaid pattern on white cardstock using non-traditional colors. She toned down the design by layering a die cut vellum piece over the top and adding stamped and embossed imaged from Season's Greetings and Peace On Earth to the vellum.

Laura stamped the stripes using several of the fabulous new ink colors and then added a partially die cut window to frame her sentiment. She also used the new Happy Everything stamp set with the coordinating Happy Script word die.

Here's a video to show you how she created her card.

STAMP HIGHLIGHT: PEACE ON EARTH

Today we are highlighting Peace on Earth, another one of Pauline Ibarra's handwritten beauties!  It allows you to make a quick holiday card with a bold statement!

Let's see our Design Team's creations!

Ashley created a colorful card with a bold sentiment, shimmering die cut embellishments and a trendy gold stamped background!

Elena used our new scallop border to create a beautifully textured tag. We love how she stamped and cut out the sentiment so that it would stand out!

Geralyn loved the large handlettered sentiment in Peace on Earth and decided to focus on its meaning by having two little penguins from Artic Penguins share an olive branch. How cute is that!

Laura did some masking and ink blending to create a serene feel on her card.

Nichol created a "merry & bright" card with colorful embossing on a black background.

Pamela splashed on some colours to create a trail for the bird for a simple card front. Head over to her blog to see how she decorated the inside!

Thanks all for joining us today! Tomorrow we will continue with Boutique Borders!

STAMP HIGHLIGHT : ARCTIC PENGUINS & JOLLY AND MERRY

Today we are starting our Stamp Highlights with Arctic Penguins.  These lovable penguins are making their way to many of your homes! The sweet birds are packed with character and they are ready to make your holiday projects really fun!

Arctic Penguins

Let's take a look at what these penguins are getting themselves into!

Ashley created a fun scene by combining the Arctic Penguins and Jolly and Merry stamp sets! She also used the new borders set to create some fun layering behind the scene!

Elena did some amazing selective inking to create one larger block of ice and then die-cut the penguin along with it as one unit. we love how he looks like he's drifting along in the ocean!

Laura made a little snowy scene using one of the Landscape Trio dies. Her penguins are love struck with a heart speech bubble & sentiment from the Everyday Greetings stamp set.

Nichol created a winter scene with five ice-skating penguins all adorned with santa hats! The Landscape Trio Creative Cuts dies and large stitched rectangle Peek A Frame Creative Cuts die are the perfect "scene builders".

Pamela made a cute shaker card by combining several dies together for the skating penguin. The full sentiment is from Jolly and Merry and it is separated with the first half in front and the second half on the inside.

We would also like to highlight Jolly and Merry, a companion sentiment set to Arctic Penguins!

We love how Ashley double stamped the sentiment in two shades of each color to give more dimension and interest!

Elena created a stunning giant tag-shaped card and blended ink for a starry sky feel. The use of the starburst cover is incredible! And we love the embossed "Merry" and how the glowing lights emphasize "and bright."

Laura combined a few of the coordinating sentiments to go along with her skating penguin image.

The oversized tag in the Tags A Lot Creative Cuts Die Collection makes the perfect base for this sweet shaker card complete with an ice skating penguin and a big bold greeting. Nichol colored in the small areas on the greeting with Copic Markers and stamped the scripty word with Apple Ink for a title that definitely jolly!

Pamela made a fun Christmas tag with some distress ink blending. We love how she stamped the snowflake furries on a piece of acetate and layered it over the tag!

Thank you for joining us with day one of stamp highlights! Come back tomorrow for more!

Guest post by Lorraine Marasigan + party recap

Good morning, Kryssi here... today we welcome our good friend, Lorraine Marasigan to the blog. We met Lorraine at our 1st anniversary party last year along with her sister, Lynn. The two sisters are such amazing people and we are so lucky to call them friends. I asked Lorraine if she could do a recap post today and she said yes! I'm seeing all these awesome shots from our party for the first time too, so hope you enjoy them as much as I did! And keep reading because Lorraine is a pretty talented crafter as well! She created so many jaw dropping cards for us! Thanks, Lorraine, we ♥ you!

Hi all!  Its Lorraine here, sharing some wonderful memories of the party we had last weekend to celebrate Mama Elephant's 2nd anniversary as well as some cards I made using Mama Elephant's newest products.

The anniversary party took place at the Westbeth Artist Housing and Center for the Arts in the NYC, and folks braved the rain to be part of such a special event.  We had one "make and take" table, which was full of crafters before the party even officially started, and by one hour in, we had spilled over to 4 full tables.

We had a chance to play around with Mama Elephant's newest products.  It was lovely to see everyone's creations, from sparkly tags and holiday cards to neon backgrounds using Mama Elephants new ink pads.

In the house that day: cardmakers, scrapbookers, parents, children, folks who had traveled great distances, people new to crafting.  It didn't matter how long you had been crafting, the atmosphere was warm and friendly, and we all just had a great time together.

My friend, Gary, came to join the fun.  This was the first card he ever made.  I'm so proud of him:)

Some were even lucky and won raffle prizes: gift certificates to spend in the pop-up store that the Mama Elephant staff set up for us.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the mamas behind Mama Elephant are pretty incredible.  They are incredibly thoughtful with their product design and are committed to making quality products for their growing fan base (Mama Ele-fans?).  Stamp sets are compatible with each other and can be stretched for so many occasions, their aesthetic is cute, classy, and consistent, and there's just so much joy in their products.  More than that, Kryssi and Angela are two of the most fun, down to earth, talented, smart, and humble people I know.  When there are so many places where we can spend money, I chose to support a business where the people behind it respect and appreciate their customers and are just good people.

Congratulations to the mamas, Kryssi and Angela!  Happy 2nd Anniversary from your Mama Ele-fans!!!

We had a fantastic 3-day Stampede last week that showcased all of the new products in the most recent release.  But, you know we can never get enough of Mama Elephant goodness, right?!?  So, I put together some cards and would love to share with you.

Using Alpine Carolers (stamps and creative cuts) and Season's Greetings.

And, the last set of cards feature the "Happy Everything" stamp set and creative cut, free with purchase of over $100 (to get stamp set) or $150 (to get stamp set and creative cut).

That's it for me!  Thank you for checking out this long blog of loads o' photos.  I hope you can see just how excited many of us are about Mama Elephant's anniversary and new release.  Congrats again, Kryssi and Angela.  To many more years of Mama Elephant goodness!
