Fortune Envelope with Keeway

The Lunar New Year 2020 falls on on Saturday, January 25, 2019, beginning the year of the Rat, and one of the most celebrated holidays for many cultures! As part of tradition, people exchange gifts, and one of the most common gifts is the red envelope. So guess what? Today's inspiration will be about making your own red envelope with little scenes using the new Fortune Envelope Creative Cuts along with several Lunar New Year themed stamp sets.

Not only do the Fortune Envelope CC make perfectly sized envelopes to fit a dollar bill folded in half, it also is a good size for decorating and creating a mini scene on the front. The first thing I did was use the envelope die to die cut several red envelopes out of 65lb cardstock. I recommend using cardstock or paper that is 65lb or less.

I brought out my watercolors to create fun, quick backgrounds that I will be using for my mini scenes. I used the scallop frame die as a guide to paint loose rectangles onto watercolor paper. I used a wet-on-wet technique to mix it red, orange, yellow, and metallic gold/copper paint for this background.

Once the backgrounds are dry, I used the die to die cut each of these scallop square pieces. I then stamped several images from the stamp set Lion Dance in a dark brown hybrid ink and colored the images with copic markers. I also usd the matching dies to die cut out the images. Once I had an arrangement in mind for each of the little scenes, I then heat embossed various sentiments from the Lunar Sayings stamp set in gold onto the little backgrounds.

I have adhered the images that I had colored and die cut onto each envelope with foam tape.

I easily made four variations of these red envelopes with the images that I colored, but there are tons and tons of possibilities with these sets, and even more possibilities with other lunar new year themed sets such as the Lunar Animals, Lunar Extras, Zodiac Mouse (for the Year of the Rat), and even Little Agenda Pandas

These envelopes are great for all occassions even if you don't celebrate Lunar New Year. You can easily turn these into money envelopes for the holidays and birthdays!

Hope you enjoy today's inspiration and see you next time!

Zodiac Ox and Mouse with Nichol + THANK YOU SALE

Hello friends! Nichol here today with two tall and skinny card ideas with the new Zodiac Ox and Zodiac Mouse stamp sets from Mama Elephant. I have been loving the look of tall & skinny cards here lately and these fun extended tall designs are the perfect backdrop for cute scenes.
Both cards measure 3 1/2" x 9". I started by trimming a piece of smooth white cardstock to 7" x 9" and scoring in half to create the card base.

For this Zodiac Ox card the background was created by die cutting the Grassy Trio Die three times and inking the borders with two shades of green ink. The background was inked with aqua ink and the borders were placed along the bottom edge of the card.

The images from Zodiac Ox were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with a no line coloring ink and colored in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers before being die cut with the coordinating dies.

The Thanks Script Creative Cuts die was die cut from smooth white cardstock adhered to Fun Foam with Stick It Adhesive and inked with red ink before being adhered to the card.

The sentiment from Zodaic Ox was stamped on black cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The phrase was die cut with a Sentiment Strip die and adhered to the card with foam adhesive.

The background for the Zodiac Mouse card was created by inking a 3 1/2" x 9" panel of smooth white cardstock with two shades of yellow ink and die cutting circles from the Sew Fancy Creative Cuts to create "cheese".

The "hugs" greeting from the Tri Window Creative Cuts was cut from the background. A sentiment from the Zodiac Mouse Stamp Set was stamped below the die cut greeting. The circles were adhered directly to the card base and the panel adhered with foam adhesive. Two layers of Fun Foam "hugs" greetings were adhered to the card, finishing with the yellow inked greeting. A layer of Glossy Accents finishes the dimensional greeting.

Zodiac Mouse with Vera

Hello everyone, it’s Vera here and welcomes to the Mama Elephant Designer Series blog! Today I’d like to share my project features the Zodiac Mouse Stamp set and Fortune Envelope - Creative Cuts. With Zodiac Mouse set you can create various themes!
Here I created mini cards with various themes: Christmas, Chinese New Year, Birthday and Valentine!  With mini size, it's easy to mix and matches with my Mama Elephant collections. The images are stamped on Bristol paper, colored with Copic and cut it out with the coordinating dies. I listed all the material that I used in the picture below.
Because Christmas is coming first, I created a Christmas card. Here I used the sentiment from Mini Merry Messages and Holiday Messages set.
The Chinese New Year of 2020 falls on January 25th.  2020 is a Year of the Rat according to the Chinese zodiac, so the Zodiac Mouse is perfect for the Chinese New Year 2020. Here I combined with Lunar Sayings for the sentiment.
Next, I use the Zodiac Mouse for a Birthday theme and paired with Mini Everyday Messages and the Birthday Messages stamp set.
and last, I created a Valentine theme by combining with Cross My Heart stamp set.
That's it today, I hope you enjoyed my project! Thank you for stopping by!
