Sakura Lanterns with Thi

Thi here and for my Designer Series project, I am highlighting the beautiful Sakura Lanterns - Creative Cuts! I used every single die that comes with this die set and they're just perfect. The set comes with these little accent pieces that you can use to add dimension and life to the die cuts, which I have always loved about Mama Elephant - their attention to adorable detail. Today I paired Sakura Lantern with Lunar Saying sentiment stamps for a traditional Lunar New Year look.

To start, I die cut everything out of watercolor paper. I then water colored the cherry blossoms and the lanterns with some Zig Markers and a water brush. While the watercolor pieces sat to dry, I worked on a background by adding a wash of water then blue watercolor and fading it down. I wanted something very subtle that looks like the sky.

Next, while all my pieces continue to dry, I die cut the little accent pieces out of glitter paper. I wanted to add some bling to a pretty subdue card and it worked out exactly as I wanted! I wish you could see the bling from the bands and tassels on the lantern in person! I wasn't able to really photograph all that shine.

Now I glued everything together and moved on to the sentiment. First, I heat emboss the vertical Chinese saying sentiment onto my background with gold embossing powder. Next, I heat emboss the lanterns sentiment in Lunar Saying onto Kraft card stock with white embossing powder and adhered it onto my card.

And there you have it - my card is complete! I hope you liked my project today! Thank you for reading! Ciao!
