Designer Series: Emily Leiphart's hilarious Santa card (+ a video!)

It's Emily Leiphart here today and I'm sharing a card and video using the new release Four Seasons. I also used Toy Shop and Embellished Tag Creative Cuts. Here's the video:

I created a dual-panelled comic book style card featuring Santa in his summer environment versus winter environment.

In the before/summer scene, he's without his hat, sporting humidity frizz on the the beach with a tropical drink. In the after/winter scene, he's sipping hot cocoa in full traditional attire.

I kept this card as flat as possible for easy mailing and embellished it with tiny glittery gold hearts die cut from Embellished Tag Creative Cuts.

I hope I've inspired you to play with your November Release goodies from Mama Elephant!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Designer Series: JJ Bolton wows with Fair Feathers!

Hi everyone! Just dropping in on the Mama Elephant blog today to share a card I made with the new set Fair Feathers! If you’ve ever visited my blog, you know that I love feathers! And this set is just beautiful!

Fair Feathers {jj bolton}

To give my feathers a little something extra, I stamped a “v” design to mimic the texture of feathers. To achieve this look, I used the slanted stripe stamp from the set Basic Borders. First I stamped the slanted stripes once onto a scrap piece of cardstock. To get the other side of the “v”, I needed the mirror image of the slanted stripes. So I took the solid stripe stamp and kissed it to the inked slanted stripe stamp. This transfers the design so that you can stamp the mirror image.

Fair Feathers Steps {jj bolton}

This allows you to transfer the design to the solid stripe stamp so that you can stamp the mirror image to your paper. (Don’t worry, it’s easier than it sounds)

Fair Feathers Steps {jj bolton}

After I stamped the background, I blended on some inks in pink, peach, and gold. At the end, I stamped the feather image over all of it. (If you’re wondering, I prefer to blend ink before I stamp the outline image. The outline image will be crisper and darker.)

Fair Feathers Steps {jj bolton}

I repeated the same process to make another feather and fussy cut them both. I finished off my card by attaching the feathers with foam tape, stamping the sentiment, and adding a few sequins. (The sentiment is from the set Many Thanks)

Fair Feathers Close Up {jj bolton}

Thanks so much for taking the time to check out my card today! Have a fantastic day!

Designer Series: Confetti with Laura Bassen (and a video)!

Hi there! Laura Bassen here and today I have a fun project to share with you using the new Confetti stamp set.

Mama Elephant~Confetti

I used my Envelope Punch Board to create this little envelope. The stamps in the Confetti stamp set are perfect for the front and back of envelopes. I used the tiny sequins to dress up the front of the envelope and the solid circle love sentiment to make a sticker for the back.

Mama Elephant~Confetti

I adore this handwritten sentiment.

STAMP HIGHLIGHT : INLINE LETTERS

We end this week's Stamp Highlight with INLINE LETTERS. If you have worked with FLASHY LETTERS then you will love this set! It is so bold and so sleek! This stamp set also has a coordinating die, Inline Letters Creative Cut. The die set will also work with our FLASHY LETTERS stamp set. We are very excited to add to this collection!

INLINE LETTERS

Let's take a look what the Design Team has for us!

Geralyn used Inline Letters to create a bold sentiment for her simple but festive card. Mama Elephant's Apple pigment ink is the perfect shade of red for holiday crafting!

Jenn wanted to emphasize the Inline Letters, so she diecut them first using the fabulous new matching letter dies, then stamped the letters in Apple pigment ink and spritzed with gold mist. The mountain scene wasn't complete without the houses from the SC Cinnamon Spice kit and the masked off sentiment from the Merry Greetings set.

JJ created a clean and simple chalkboard card with a little bling! She used the stamps and the matching dies to create this totally custom sentiment.

Laura used the inline letters and dies to create a custom birthday card. She also used the balloons from the Party Kit stamp set.

Nichol die cut and stamped the large greeting to get maximum impact on this colorful card. To make the sentiment stand out even more she added a layer of Glossy Accents for subtle dimension.

Pearl created a card to say "thanks a million" with Inline Letters, coordinating Creative Cuts letter die, and Many Thanks. Pearl stamped "thanks" on the white card base several times with Creative Color inks in Bubblegum and Smoke, and added a gold glitter speckled banner as the background to the letter die cut top piece of vellum for a cute and sweet way of saying "thanks!"

Emily used the Inline/Flashy Letters Creative Cuts and embossing paste to create a stenciled background over patterned paper. Then she layered a glittered vellum Fair Feather behind the sweet sentiment.

STAMP HIGHLIGHT : FAIR FEATHERS

Today we have the classic FAIR FEATHERS for our Stamp Highlight. We went back in time and was inspired by beautiful quill writing. This stamp set will bring a timeless elegance to any project and it has a coordinating die that will give the feathers a nice pop.

We are just tickled by our Design Team's projects!

Laura created a soft look by embossing her feathers and her sentiment in white and adding some chevron washi tape down the side.

Pearl created a birthday card using Fair Feathers, coordinating Creative Cuts dies, Creative Cuts Embellished Tag die. She layered the feathers with the embellished tag, stamped feather outlines on the base of the card, and further stamped ink spots and sprinkled confetti to give this card a lot of dimension.

Nichol stamped and die cut a couple of feathers and used a craft knife to cut a slit in the stamped ink well to slide the feathers into. Ink splatters and a stamped title finish this sweet card.

Emily created two cards using the gradient stamping technique with ink (card on left) and with glitter (card on right). This technique was also demonstrated on her November Stampede card. Watch her video to learn how:

STAMP HIGHLIGHT : CONFETTI

Today we are highlighting CONFETTI. This is a super cute set perfect for any gift giving occasion! Who wouldn't love seeing these super fun sentiments before opening a gift? It also gives a whole new dimension for stamping on gift wrap, envelopes, gift bags, tags and more! I can't express how much we simply adore these instant confetti and sequins!

Let's see what what our Design Team have put together for this set!

Emily created a clean and simple holiday card by stamping the string and bow in glitter to make the card look like a gift. She double stamped the bow on to the gift tag and layered it over the string for a bit of dimension.

Jenn created this chalkboard effect gift card holder using the "Warning" sentiment from the Confetti set. She thought it would be the perfect sentiment to compliment the gift card inside. She stamped the sequin stamps onto the tree and embossed them with silver glitter, which made them look like ornaments. You can see more detailed photos of the tag on Jenn's blog.

JJ used the Embellished Tag die to create a vellum packet spilling colorful sequins and confetti!!

Pearl created a clean and simple tag for the front of an envelope, a really fun way to decorate the front of an envelope without all of the bulk and Confetti is perfect for this because you can stamp everything! She dressed up the tag with sequins and the sentiment "smiles inside". She further dressed it with some silver metallic stars. To mail this, she will simply run the tag through the typewriter for the to address, slip it into a clear cellophane envelope, and put the postage stamp on the outer cellophane envelope.

STAMP HIGHLIGHT : FOUR SEASONS

This week, we start our Stamp Highlight with FOUR SEASONS.
The one thing I love most about Mother Nature is the Seasons she brings. Every year my family and I look forward to doing seasonal activities. May it be building a jolly snowman in the winter or feeling warm sand in between our toes during the summer. What better way to document these special moments than with this stamp set in your scrapbook and project life? Four Seasons is also a great set to give additional personalization to any "Birthday" and "It's Your Day" cards!

Looks like it's your day! Our fabulous Design Team has some great projects to share!

Emily created a birthday card by popping the solid sentiment in the centre of the calendar which was stamped on a vellum Embellished Tag die. The 'celebrate' sentiment is from Remember December.

Pearl created a personalized and feminine birthday card for a special little girl who turned four on November 5th. She highlighted the number 4 by coloring it in pink and encircling it with the date stamp. To give the card an extra pop, she added a dimensional glitter gold butterfly, glitter gold paint splatters, and sequins.

Geralyn used Four Season to create a custom birthday card. The circular date stamp was perfect to mark off the date of her friend's birthday, and she lightly colored in the numbers '2' and '3' to indicate her friend's age. Mama Elephant's Lollipop, Bubblegum, and Blush pigment inks are beautiful shades of pink that complemented the card's color scheme.

On this card, Jenn created a winter scene using the circular date stamps from the Four Seasons set. The numbers, arrow and snowflake really pop with the Apple pigment ink from ME. The Winter circle really sets off the card when embossed in silver and the "Hello, I miss your face" sentiment from the Water Blooms set easily blends in. Don't you just love the numbers stamped on the banner diecut?!?!

JJ mixed dye inks over the stamps to show the cycle of the season in color! She used the Embellished Tag die to create a little layered detail. Click over to JJ's blog to see the coordinating message inside!

Laura used the Four Seasons stamp set to create a fun birthday card. She stamped the background with the numbers and created the focal point by white embossing the circular date stamp.

Nichol created a set of Project Life cards using the stamps from Four Seasons. She was able to evoke the feeling of each season by simply changing the ink colors and accent stamping.

For my card, I used one of the circle images from Confetti and our Fair Feathers Creative Cuts to create the negative feather. The stripe border is from Basic Borders.

I first stamped the border and then die cut the feather. On a separate white cardstock, I freely applied glitter Stickles, enough to cover the shape of the feather and then some. After it dried, I die cut the feather out again. The negative and glitter feathers are both popped up by 3d foam squares. I like that they are flushed against each other. Lastly, the sentiment was stamped and punched out with a circle punch. Simple and chic!

Please check out what our fabulous designers created with our new release!
